Town Travel League
Brookline Travel Basketball is a competitive league for boys (grades 4 - 8) and girls (grades 4 - 8) living in/ attending school in Brookline. The Travel program is led by volunteer coaches and endeavors to provide an enhanced basketball experience focused on player development, building a competitive team spirit, and sportsmanship. Teams play in the Metrowest Basketball League.
Team placements are determined by grade level. Not every player who attends the tryouts is guaranteed to make a roster and there may be cuts. The approach to team selection is typically based on skill level creating A, B, and possibly C teams (depending on participation levels) at a given grade level.
Time commitment: Participants are required to make a strong commitment to the program. Each team will have two 90-minute weeknight practices and one League game typically on Sundays as part of a 12-game schedule. Individual coaches may choose to schedule additional non-League games and/or scrimmages and participate in tournaments (usually held over holiday periods). Practices begin in late-October/early-November and the regular season runs from the beginning of December through the end of February/beginning of March, followed immediately by playoffs. This year's League schedule will begin TBD. Note: The Metrowest League does schedule games on the Sundays around February school vacation week and the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
Cost: If selected for a Travel team the program registration cost is $175. Uniform fees are additional.
Registration is administered by the Town of Brookline Recreation Department.
